For more than two decades, Carol J. Mack has been a valued member of Dr. James Simon’s practice, offering patients knowledgeable, attentive care. Before entering clinical medicine, Carol trained in neuroscience and conducted research in age-related cognitive decline at the National Institutes of Mental Health – experience that continues to guide her science-based approach to patient care.

Within the practice, Carol plays an active role in clinical research and has served as a Sub-Investigator on numerous clinical trials, including early studies on GLP-1 medications for weight management and groundbreaking studies that have shaped our understanding of menopause. Clinically, she focuses on helping patients navigate menopause and perimenopause, manage Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM), and achieve personalized, sustainable weight-management goals.

Carol holds dual master’s degrees from The George Washington University: a Master of Science in Health Sciences and a Master of Public Health in Community-Oriented Primary Care. Her public health background also extends into community service; she serves on the board of Friends for Neighborhood Progress, a Maryland nonprofit supporting lower-income and unhoused individuals.

Carol is known for her warm, collaborative style and her commitment to making patients feel supported and understood.

Outside the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and son – especially on mountain trails and western rivers. She has summited 48 of the 50 state high points and rowed her own gear boat down the Colorado through the Grand Canyon!
